About Us

The Walker African-American Museum & Research Center, a non-profit tax-exempt 501(c) 3 organization, is designed to preserve and promote the history of people of African descent locally, nationally, and internationally.  Our immediate goal is to build the permanent site of Nevada's only African-American Museum.

Our temporary location offers exhibits of books, magazines, dolls, stamps, postcards, trade cards, figurines, statues, sports and political items, newspapers and clippings, signs, church histories, biographies, prints, posters, painting, etc. that document the accomplishments of people of African descent.

Our motto is "We must know where we come from, in order to know where we are going." By educating others and ourselves on the many contributions of people of African descent, we build self-esteem, pride, and respect, which enhance the relationships with others.
